The CIS Explained

The Custom Integration System (CIS)  is a platform designed to centralise all things relevant for Big Post integration in once place; such as product packaging details, settings, and other key features. Currently, the CIS connects with the Big Post Shipping Shopify app and WooCommerce plugin. Shopify users can access CIS through the app or directly at https://cis.bigpost.com.au, while WooCommerce users can access it via the same link.

The CIS is separate to the Big Post system, but acts as an intermediary platform between your website and the Big Post portal. Think of the CIS as the integration system that logs all quotes and orders, holds all your product information, and manages shipping preferences and settings.

In the future, CIS will be compatible with additional systems, e-commerce platforms, and custom websites. Currently, we’re working to bring CIS to PrestaShop.

How the CIS Works:

1. Shipping Quote Request: When a potential buyer requests a shipping quote, your e-commerce store sends a data package to CIS. This includes the buyer’s location and the product SKU. The CIS matches the SKU received from your e-commerce store to the saved product details (such as dimensions, weight, package type, and pickup location) and uses the Big Post API to generate a shipping quote.

2. Displays Rates: The CIS interprets the API results, applies your preferences, and displays the appropriate shipping rates on your website.

3. Creates Order: If the buyer completes the purchase, Shopify sends the order details to the CIS, triggering an API request that syncs the order with the Big Post system under Pending Jobs.

Key Features of the CIS
  1. Order and Quote Logs: The CIS logs every quote generated, enabling efficient troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  1. Product List: The CIS saves all the product information so that accurate shipping quotes can be provided. The product's SKU will be referenced to find the package type, dimensions, weight, pickup location and which shipping types should be offered when this product is ordered.

For Shopify Users

Shopify users with the Big Post app can access the CIS directly from within the app or via https://cis.bigpost.com.au/login using the same login credentials. This allows you to seamlessly customise your settings across both platforms.

For WooCommerce Users

WooCommerce or WordPress stores using our plugin can access the CIS via https://cis.bigpost.com.au/login. Please note, this login is separate from your Big Post portal credentials.
